No matter where you look, poetry is all around you. In New York, there are poetry festivals and events, and in Virginia, there are poetry festivals for you to attend. There are poetry events in Texas, other areas of our world, and more. All you have to do is look for a poetry festival in your area. Many of these workshops and festivals are devoted to helping writers become more able to express their thoughts and ideas through writing. Which one will you attend?
New York
During the month of April, (National Poetry Month), you will find a large variety of poetry-themed things to do. The New York Public Library offers classes and workshops, as does the Sarah Lawrence College Poetry Festival. There is also a NYC poetry festival on Governors Island.
New Jersey
Here you will find the Dodge Poetry Festival, which holds the title of being the largest poetry event in the US. It is a four-day event that features readings from well-known poets, group discussions, and so much more.
Texas
Texas is the home to WORDFEST. It is a place where poets can perform over open mics and it is dedicated to speakers rather than groups writing together. Many people love this event because it does bring life to poetry.
Connecticut
Connecticut is home of the Poetry by the Sea event. Here there are workshops, seminars, poetry writers, readers, and so much more.
Washington
The Cascadia Poetry Festival and the Skagit River Poetry Foundation are both great places to visit if you love poetry and live nearby. It is all dedicated to the love we have for our poets and the masterpieces that they create.
