2012 festival feedback – what the poets said
A wonderful and intimate festival on a beautiful coastline
- what's not to like about it?
one of the warmest, most receptive audiences I have ever encountered.
It is an absolute jewel
... one of the best and most welcoming festivals I have ever been to... It is small and perfect and fuelled by love, and boy do we need festivals like this.
an appreciative and attentive audience.
A warm and responsive audience and stimulating events.
Dame Gillian Beer
The much-loved Poetry-next-the-Sea festival takes place annually over one May weekend in the charming town of Wells-next-the-Sea on the evocative north Norfolk coast. In the arena of literary festivals, we punch above our weight, showcasing poets of national and international repute in an intimate setting.
In addition, we run an Education Programme which places a professional poet in local schools in order to extend and enhance young people’s experience of poetry. Our very successful Poetry Competition offers writers the opportunity to demonstrate their skills.
Poetry-next-the-Sea has made an enduring impact on the cultural life of north Norfolk over the course of the last fifteen years. We are continually striving to develop the festival in order to meet the high expectations of our local community and our dedicated audience.
